ProLoCon wins prestigious Avalloy traceability contract

Johannesburg based manufacturing software company ProLoCon has been awarded a contract to implement a manufacturing traceability system at the new Avalloy (A subsidiary of JSE listed African Rainbow Minerals) plant at Pelindaba.

Avalloy were appointed to supply superalloys to a leading international aircraft manufacturer. These superalloys are largely nickel based and retain their strength, which makes them ideal for use in jet engines. In order to produce these "boutique metals" for the international aviation market Avalloy are required to have in place a complete traceability solution from raw materials receiving, through manufacturing to finished product warehousing.

ProLoCon is required implementing a "Front End" solution to work in conjunction with Syspro at goods receiving for the receipt and labelling of raw materials prior to their going to stores or into the Sample laboratory.

ProLoCon's BatchManager software will then be utilised for the weighing of the high value raw materials and to ensure full lot number traceability. "BatchManager's flexibility and scalability as well as it's interface to Syspro made it a perfect fit for this operation" comments ProLoCon MD Andrew Ashton.

Finally the process is completed with the assessment of finished product from the furnace. This is weighed and labelled before being moved to the finished goods warehouse.

Ashton adds: "This project has an enormous amount of prestige attached to it. It is very exciting to be able to supply an organisation such as Avalloy whose finished product is to go into a global markets such as the UK, China and Italy"
